Mike Tyson’s surprising net worth – including timeline of boxer’s rollercoaster finances

Retired boxing icon Mike Tyson’s net worth pales compared to his $430 million in career fight and endorsement earnings. Still, despite financial setbacks, the former undisputed heavyweight champion has an estimated $10 million in 2024.
Tyson’s largest purse, $35 million, from a fight against Lennox Lewis, came in 2002, one year before the sports legend declared bankruptcy.
The famous athlete’s financial downfall was due to several factors, including the claim that boxing promoter Don King and his two co-managers took over $100 million from him, Parade reports.
Tyson sued King in 2004, resulting in the boxer winning a $14 million settlement.
Many Hollywood movie fans remember Mike Tyson for his cameos in The Hangover and The Hangover Part II, but the former heavyweight champion reportedly earned $100,000 for the first film and $200,000 for its sequel, a sum far less than the returning stars’ $5 million payday, according to Blavity.

The first Hangover movie featured Tyson’s real tiger that he paid $71,000 for along with around $400,000 worth of pigeons, Parade reports.
The boxer was also only paid $50,000 in 1987, at the peak of his athletic career, for a central role in the Nintendo game Punch Out.
However, Tyson earned a cool $10 million for coming out of retirement in 2020 to fight Roy Jones Jr.

Tyson’s podcast, Hotboxin’ with Mike Tyson, provides a steady income stream for the former heavyweight champion.
The show, represented by nearly 1 million YouTube subscribers, featured high-profile guests like Joe Rogan and Katt Williams.
The boxer will receive a giant payday when he fights YouTuber Jake Paul at AT&T Stadium in Dallas, Texas, on July 20 in front of 80,000 in-person fans and Netflix viewers.
Paul stated that he believes the exhibition match with Tyson can make as much as $300 million.
